One of our neighbours is planning a party for their daughter. They have put a letter through our door, and presumably through the doors of all those who may be affected, apologising in advance for any noise they may make.
How much noise is acceptable in these circumstances? If the noise continues into the early hours should we be prepared to bury our heads under the covers that night and merely hope it does not continue for too long?

In many circumstances, I think I'd say if it's a "one off", then perhaps grin and bear it, nightshift.
Assuming it's a weekend night? Are the houses adjoining? I think I'd probably check what time it's due to finish and whether there'll be a "responsible adult" there at that time to ensure that happens as planned.

How lovely to warn you advance.
Hope it's not an all nighter though.

I don't know what I'd do Nightshift, I suppose it would depend on how much noise they make and whether I needed to be up bright and early the following day. I suppose it might also depend on whether I know and like the family too.
Mind you, I'd be grateful they've taken the trouble to tell me about it beforehand, not many bother to do that.

Thanks.
We decided to grin and bear it even though the noise went on until past three a.m.. They aren't bad neighbours, rarely make any noise and had the courtesy to warn us.

| Glad to hear it went off smoothly, without too much distrubance.
